A Song Called The Ballad Of Davy Crockett
Became A Hit,
Because Of The Movie.
Many Companies Used It To Sell Items,
Pegged The Connection To This Piece,
Of American History Trend.
This Was From The 1830's
He Opposed The Indian Removal Act.
As The Only Member Of The Tennessee Delegation
To Vote Against It,
The Move Resulted In Crockett Losing Support,
And He Was Voted Out Of Congress For Good In 1835.
Passed In 1830, Authorized The U.S. government,
To Exchange Native American-Held
Land In The Eastern United States
For Land West Of The Mississippi River.
Supported By President Andrew Jackson,
Led To The Forced Relocation
Of Many Native American tribes,
Most Notably The "Five Civilized Tribes,"
To Present-Day Oklahoma,
A journey Known As The Trail Of Tears.
Crockett Left For Texas In November 1835,
Heading A Unit Of 30 Armed Men
And Being Feted At The Towns,
He Stopped At Along The Way,
The territory Was Erupting In Revolution.
Americans Settled There In 1803,
The Territory Was Under Spanish Control.
The Population Was Mixed, Indians,
French, Spanish Descents,
Africans, And The Americans.
These People Were Not Mexicans.
When Spain Gave Up The Territory In1821,
The Area Fell Into Hands Of The Residents,
In The Late 1820's, Mexico Tried To Take Control.
The Mexican Armies Attacked The Colonies Of The Americans.
Mexico Continued To Lose Battles.
Santa Anna's Army Came In The 1830's
Lost Many Battles, Had Reinforcements Brought Up
From Mexico. They Attacked The Alamo,

They Burned The Bodies Of The Losers.
Sam Houston Came In With Relief,
Defeating Santa Anna's Army.
