During WWII The Germans Used It 

Home Of One Of The Biggest U-Boat Stations 

For A Service Port For The Kriegsmarine

Including Dry Dock Facilities

For A Battleship  (Tirpitz,) In Size,

The War Did Not End, In 1944 Here. 

As The Rest Of France.

It Continued To The 11th Of May 1945. 

Three Days After The Unconditional Surrender

Of Third Reich Germany.

After The Conflict The Town Was Developed, 

Clearing The Debris, Restoring The Buildings, 

Reopening The Casinos To The General Public

For Sea Side Vacations With Travel Time 

From Paris, Was Three Hours By Train. 

The Population Swelled From Six Thousand 

To Over 15 Thousand In 1946.

In The 1960's, The Place Became Very Trendy.
