Period Of Paper Cinderella

The 1940's Words And Life,

Traveled By Envelopes Mailed.

The Typewriter Took Some Of The Load.

Most Still Was Done By...

Manual Process...

Pen And Pencil That Had To Glide On Pages.

Sheets To Notes...

World With Briefs.

The Parker 51 Appeared On A Magazine Page,

In 1948, A Pump Action Tool.

You Had To Load A Cartridge

That Sat Inside Of The Writing Instrument.

From A Bottle Of Wet Ink.

This Was Done Daily...

No BIC Or Sharpie, Yet.

Yes, Ballpoints Were There... 1880's Invention.

The Dip Pen Was Normal.

The Cost Varied Normal Four Dollars,

 To The More Expensive.

Major Department Store Had A Section,

Featuring Ink Pens.

In New York Macys And Gimbles Sold

Hundred Thousands Of Ink Pens.

The Grand Finale Was The Ball Point.

Debuting At Gimbels Store In New York City

On 29 October 1945 for $12.50 USD each.

(1945 US dollar value, about $203 USD in 2022 dollars)

Owning A Pen Was A Status Symbol.

There Were Many Manufactures .

In Fashion, With Style.

They Were Made Of Different Materials.

There Were Cool And Normal.

Handwriting Was Focus For New Hires.

Schools Still Had Desks With Dip Pen Ink Hole At The Top.

Where To Put The Bottle.

Prestige Was In, What Pen You Carried.

Ball Points Existed And Still Had To Be Loaded.

After World War Two, Companies Tried To Market

A Free Flowing Ink.

Between 1953 And 1957 Success Was Found

Bic Showed Up.  Silly But True.

Oh Canada, Had A Special License Issued For Pen Sales.

They Fell Behind The Rest Of The World.

They Were Not Made There.

They Still Have Those Laws....

They Were Alway Better Than Everybody Else.

Second Class Life Is Presented In That Country.

As The Rest Of The World Excels.

It Took Til The Late 1990's For Computers To Be Accepted.

The General Public Had To Buy One With A Special Permit.

As The Story Goes....
